Peter is an independent consultant in real estate research and strategy, having retired from CBRE with 26 years’ experience in directing research and related consultancy within a commercial property advisory business.   Peter joined St Quintin Chartered Surveyors in 1988 and was responsible for initiating and developing the firm’s property research, becoming an equity partner in 1997.  Following the acquisition of St Quintin, Peter became Head of UK Research at CBRE, the world’s largest property adviser. From 2010 he acquired a pan-European remit when he was appointed EMEA Chief Economist and then Chairman of EMEA Research at CBRE. He was a member of CBRE’s Global Research Executive responsible for coordinating and developing the firm’s research globally.

Peter was a SPR Committee member in the 1990s and served as Chairman 1998-2000.  He has also participated in a number of industry working groups and committees for organisations including the Bank of England Property Forum, the Investment Property Databank, British Council for Offices and London First.  He is a trustee of the Ethical Property Foundation.

Peter graduated in geography from the University of Cambridge where he also gained his doctorate.  His early career included six years as a lecturer at Birkbeck, University of London and he was a Visiting Professor in the School of Geography there 2003-2011.  Before moving into commercial property research he had a spell in management consultancy specialising in the evaluation of regional and local economic development policies.
